If you are still deciding which pieces you need, read our guide to building a matcha ritual first. The answers below are for day-to-day use. For the full first-cup routine, see how to make matcha at home.

A simple care chart

  • Bamboo whisk: rinse in warm water, no soap, dry on its holder.
  • Bamboo scoop: wipe dry; never soak.
  • Ceramic bowl and holder: rinse or wash gently; hand washing keeps glazes beautiful.
  • Stainless sifter: rinse and dry completely before next use.
  • Glass: rinse right away; borosilicate is usually dishwasher-safe.

All our sets are in the matcha set collection.

Quick answers

What should I do before using my matcha kit for the first time?

Rinse the bowl and holder, wipe the scoop, and soak the bamboo whisk in warm water for one to two minutes so the tines open into a bell.

Can the pieces go in the dishwasher?

The bamboo whisk and scoop must never go in the dishwasher. Ceramic and glass pieces usually can, but hand washing keeps them looking new for longer.

Which piece will I need to replace first?

The bamboo whisk. It is a natural consumable that lasts around three to six months with daily use. Everything else lasts for years.

Can I buy a replacement whisk separately?

Yes. Our bamboo whisks, including the 100-tine version, are sold individually and fit the holder included in our sets.

Can I make lattes and iced matcha with a kit?

Yes. Whisk a concentrated shot in the bowl and pour it over milk. A spouted bowl, like the one in our ceremony kit, makes pouring cleaner.

Is a matcha kit a good gift?

Very much so, because it works with whatever matcha the person already likes. Our gift set is designed to be presentation-ready.

How do I travel with my kit?

Let the whisk dry completely, then protect it in its case for the journey only. Wrap the bowl in a cloth and keep the scoop flat.

Why don't Léo Matcha kits include matcha powder?

We specialise in accessories only. Our kits are designed to be used with the matcha you already buy and enjoy.

Léo Matcha sells matcha accessories only — no matcha tea or powder. Use the matcha you already love.
